Nippon Kokuki Kogyo D-1 Research Glider 1:72 is a resin kit of the Japanese research glider of 1943 for experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Planet models brand has treated an unusual subject: an engineless aircraft that served purely to measure aerodynamic properties. The set is cast in resin, supplemented by an injection-molded clear canopy and decals for one machine. Working with resin is different from working with ordinary plastic, so we recommend the model to more experienced builders.
The D-1 glider was created as a full-scale test machine on which the aerodynamic properties of a twin-engine trainer under development were verified. It first took to the air on 21 June 1943 and was registered as a civil aircraft, which in Japan at that time was unusual for a militarily motivated program. It was precisely thanks to this trial that the designers could judge the behavior of the airframe before engines and equipment were built into it.
First wash the castings, so that no mold release agent is left on the surface, cut the pour blocks off with a saw and level the surface on abrasive paper; protect your airways when sanding resin. Cyanoacrylate will join the parts reliably, and for larger surfaces have a slower-setting super glue ready as well. Mask the clear part before spraying and glue it so that no glue can reach it and fog it.
The castings are supplied unpainted and unglued; reckon on working with cyanoacrylate and abrasive tools.
