Metal barrels from the Master Model brand for the Northrop F-5 Tiger II in 1:72 scale. A replacement for the plastic parts of the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Northrop F-5 Tiger II is a light supersonic fighter aircraft of American design. It was created as a more capable continuation of the older F-5 line and became one of the most widespread combat aircraft of its time: it flew with dozens of air forces, because it was undemanding both in maintenance and in the length of runway it needed. In fighter schools it is still used today as an adversary aircraft, because in size and behavior it comes close to smaller supersonic machines. The single-seat version carried two 20 mm cannon in the nose.
Metal barrels that replace the plastic parts on the model. In 1:72 scale the length of the model comes out at around twenty centimeters and the nose with the cannon muzzles is the place the eye falls on first. At such a size a plastic part is hard to drill and snaps off easily while the surroundings are being sanded, whereas a metal one stays whole.
Cut the plastic stub off and sand the area flat. Drill a hole of the matching diameter into the seat, try the metal part dry and only then glue it in with cyanoacrylate glue; before it sets, line the barrel up on the axis of the aircraft. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and go over it with a base color.
For modelers who build the F-5 in 1:72 scale and want to take the forward part of the aircraft through to full detail. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
