1:72 P-40 K is a photo-etched accessory set for a plastic kit you have already bought, not an airplane model. The metal parts add to the American fighter detail that is unreachable in injected plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched accessory set in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Brengun. It is intended for one particular plastic kit, the Sword one, and without it you will not be able to use the set, as it holds no airframe parts. It adds detail in the cockpit and on the surface of the model, that is where the simplification of injected plastic shows most.
The Curtiss P-40K was one of the later versions of this American fighter, powered by a more powerful variant of the V12 engine. The extra power brought a stronger reaction of the airframe to propeller torque, which the designers dealt with by modifying the rear fuselage and the vertical tail surface, so some batches look different from the earlier configuration. Machines of this version served with American and Allied units in several theaters.
Working with photo-etched parts is mainly about eyesight and light. A desk lamp on an arm and a simple magnifier or magnifying glasses are worth having, as small parts are otherwise hard to find and mistakes multiply. Watch out for sharp edges and offcuts: etched sheet is thin and springy and flying pieces can hit an eye, so cut away from yourself and put the remains of the fret straight into a box. Store an unfinished set in a closed bag so that the brass does not darken.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
