Eduard 1:72 P-40E is a photo-etched detail set, not a model. It adds fine metal details to a plastic P-40E Warhawk kit that injection-molded plastic cannot manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
This product is not a kit but a photo-etched detail set in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. It contains fine etched parts that refine and bring a plastic P-40E Warhawk model to life, adding and replacing details that injection-molded plastic cannot capture faithfully.
The Curtiss P-40 was an American fighter of the Second World War powered by an Allison V12 engine. The P-40E version was among the most widely produced and carried heavier machine gun armament in the wings. The machine also became famous for the shark mouth painted on the nose, used by the American volunteers of the Flying Tigers in China. The P-40 served on many fronts and with a number of Allied air forces.
The etched parts are intended for advanced modelers. The individual parts are separated from the fret with a sharp knife, bent on a photo-etch bender or over a sharp edge and joined with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); larger areas can also be soldered. Degrease the parts before gluing so that they hold well. The assembly is evened out by spraying a primer, followed by airbrushing and gentle highlighting with a wash. The set is an accessory for a plastic P-40E Warhawk kit in 1:72 scale, which has to be obtained separately.
