Eduard SPACE three-dimensional decals for the P-51B Mustang in 1:72 scale. Color cockpit detail applied straight onto the parts, with no photo-etched parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is neither a kit nor a photo-etched set but an accessory from the SPACE line. The color decals with three-dimensional relief printing go straight onto the cockpit parts, without dipping the sheet in water, and they have a noticeable thickness and a modeled surface. The instrument panel and the side consoles therefore gain legible detail even in 1:72 scale, where the tiny dials would be very hard to paint.
The North American P-51B was the first Mustang with the British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, built under license by Packard. It was exactly that combination that turned an originally average reconnaissance aircraft into an outstanding high-altitude fighter and escort machine, able to accompany bomber formations deep over the continent. The B version still kept the spine behind the cockpit, so it has a markedly different profile from the later Mustangs with a bubble canopy.
The surface must be smooth, degreased and ideally sealed with a gloss clear coat. Use a sponge with a drop of detergent to moisten only the backing paper, lift the part off with tweezers and press it gently with a soft cloth. Fix the part with white PVA glue; the manufacturer rules out a decal softener, because the chemistry attacks the printed resin and ruins the relief. Finally, take the shine off the cockpit so that the instruments do not gleam, and only then close the canopy.
The set contains no model, paints or glue.
