This resin detail set from the Aires brand replaces the cockpit interior of the American Northrop P-61 Black Widow night fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for experienced modelers that lifts the simplified plastic cockpit of an ordinary kit to a faithful replica with rich cast detail. Sets of this kind are as a rule complemented by photo-etch and instrument films.
The P-61 Black Widow was the first American aircraft designed from the outset as a night fighter. It was distinguished by its twin-boom layout, a powerful onboard radar in the nose and heavy armament. It was deployed at the end of the Second World War in the Pacific and over Europe, where it hunted down and destroyed enemy machines in the dark. Its crew operated both the radar and the onboard cannons.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Try the interior dry first: with resin sets a little fine-tuning of the mating surfaces sometimes helps. Paint the cockpit and pick out the details before the fuselage is closed.
The set is supplied as a resin kit, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
