This resin detail set from the Aires brand replaces the cockpit interior of the Panavia Tornado combat aircraft in the IDS version in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for experienced modelers that lifts the simplified plastic cockpit to a faithful replica of the two-seat cockpit with rich cast detail. Sets of this kind are usually complemented by photo-etch and instrument films.
The Panavia Tornado is a European combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, developed jointly by Great Britain, Germany and Italy. The IDS (Interdictor Strike) version was intended for strike and reconnaissance duties, above all for fast penetrations at low level. The two-man crew, a pilot and a navigator-operator, sits in a tandem cockpit. For decades the Tornado was the backbone of the strike forces of several European air arms.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Try the interior dry and fine-tune the mating surfaces if needed; paint the cockpit and pick out the details before the fuselage is closed.
The set is supplied as a resin kit, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
