A photo-etched detail set for a model of the US Navy P-25 carrier deck fire engine in 1:48 scale from Brengun. It is an accessory to the Skunk Models kit, not the vehicle model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the P-25 fire engine of the kind that served on the decks of American aircraft carriers. The set does not hold the vehicle itself: it follows on from the Skunk Models kit and replaces on it the parts that in reality are made of thin sheet, wire or mesh.
The P-25 is a low armored response vehicle used on flight decks for rapidly fighting aircraft fires. It is typified by a short wheelbase, a protected cab and a firefighting monitor above the forward section. For a modeler it is interesting mainly as an accessory to a deck scene: beside a parked aircraft it adds scale and action and it is a rewarding element of aircraft carrier dioramas.
On a vehicle, photo-etched parts often make up the gratings, handles, steps and hose brackets. These are glued on at the end of the build, after the base coat, or you will break them off during handling. Bending small handles is easier if you hold the part on the edge of a steel ruler. Degrease the metal and spray a base coat; deck equipment tends to be markedly worn, so after painting, washes into the recesses and light chipping of the edges with a dry brush work well. Bond with super glue, and on large areas of grating the gel version suits better.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
