Armory: night vision for the Panther Ausf.G 1:72 — a resin detail set capturing the infrared equipment fitted to Panther tanks at the end of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set from the manufacturer Armory that lets you fit a model of the Pz.Kpfw. V Panther Ausf.G tank in 1:72 scale with equipment for night fighting. This is not a standalone model of a tank but an add-on to a kit — the set gives an ordinary Panther the look of the rare night version that appeared on the battlefield in the last months of the war.
At the end of the Second World War Germany experimented with infrared technology, and a small number of Panther Ausf.G tanks received a set with an infrared searchlight and an observation device on the commander's cupola, known by the name Sperber. Vehicles equipped this way could drive and find targets in the dark, even though it was a technology in its infancy deployed only in small numbers. For a modeler it is an attractive subject that sets a model apart from ordinary Panthers at once.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent so that no mold release agent stays on them, and cut the casting blocks off with a sharp knife or a fine saw. Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and give them a thin coat of primer before painting. We recommend fitting the small devices only after the base painting of the tank is finished.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and is not a standalone model — it is made to be built into a kit of the Panther Ausf.G tank. Check compatibility with your particular kit before building.
