An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian interceptor MiG-31 in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model allows either the B version or the upgraded BM version of this massive twin-engine, two-seat machine to be built. In this scale it is an extensive, richly detailed kit. The MiG-31, NATO reporting name Foxhound, is a Russian two-seat supersonic interceptor intended to catch targets at long range and high altitude. It is derived from the fast MiG-25 but has more powerful engines, a powerful radar and a crew of a pilot and a weapon systems officer. It stands out for its very high speed and range. The upgraded BM version received improved avionics and the ability to carry new missiles.
Given the size of the kit, build in subassemblies and take care over firm joints on the large parts. Paint the cockpit of both crew members and the landing gear bays before closing them up. Russian machines wear blue-gray low-reflectance finishes, which cover best with an airbrush. After the gloss coat and the decals, pick out the panel lines with a wash and add subtle wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
