A small accessory for figures in 1:72 scale. In the package there is neither a figure nor a kit but separate castings of winter footwear, with which you replace the original boots of a figure. In a small scale this is one of the most effective interventions of all — the footwear forms the lower outline of a figure and decides whether the figure really belongs in a winter diorama.
Winter footwear is substantially more massive than a summer boot: it has a thicker sole, a wider instep and a taller, softer shaft with no distinct lacing. It is precisely this bulk that is visible from a distance and distinguishes a figure dressed for winter from one whose coat you have merely repainted. The set suits scenes with snow, mud and a muddy road, where you want the figure to look as if it really is standing in that ground.
Separate the castings from the casting residue with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw and level the surface with fine sandpaper. Cut the original boots of the figure off above the ankle, seat the new footwear dry and check whether the figure stands straight — with figures in motion this is the most frequent problem. Glue with super glue and fill the seam with a modeling compound; with winter footwear that suits the shape as well, because the transition to the trousers is meant to be soft. Degrease the parts before painting and apply a thin primer. Felt and soft leather look best matte, with a layer of dust or mud by the sole applied with pigments.
