The color photo-etched set Eduard 1:72 S-199 bubble canopy Weekend is an accessory for a kit of the Czechoslovak fighter Avia S-199 with a teardrop canopy in 1:72 scale. It is not a model but a set of parts for the cockpit.

This is an accessory photo-etched set, not a kit. Zoom sets at Eduard are smaller pre-colored selections aimed above all at the cockpit — the instrument panel, the side panels and the harness belts. The designation Weekend in the name refers to the simpler edition of the kit the set is cut for; it is exactly with these editions that adding to the cockpit makes the most sense, because their basic contents are more modest. The attribute bubble canopy then distinguishes the version with a teardrop canopy from the variant with the more angular Erla canopy.
The Avia S-199 is a postwar Czechoslovak fighter built from part-finished Messerschmitt Bf 109 G components but with the Junkers Jumo 211 bomber engine and a broad propeller, because the original powerplants were not available. The combination of a heavy engine and an airframe not designed for it gave the machine unpleasant handling and, among pilots, the nickname Mezek, meaning mule. The S-199 served with the Czechoslovak Air Force and some of the machines were exported to a foreign operator. The version with a teardrop canopy gave the pilot a better view to the rear than the older form.
In 1:72 scale the cockpit of a fighter is truly tiny and the photo-etched parts are proportionate to it — the instrument panel is usually smaller than a little fingernail. Work with sharp tweezers and under a magnifier, and hold a part when separating it with a scalpel so that it does not fly off. The color parts are not coated over; bond them with super glue applied with a pin, because cyanoacrylate fogs a clear canopy. Finish the cockpit and try it dry before the fuselage is glued together — once it is closed up you can no longer put anything right.
