An injection-molded plastic kit of the SAM-2 surface-to-air missile with its launcher in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the missile on its launch rail together with the service cabin. It is a compact kit; check the exact numbers of parts and the decal schemes against the instructions in the particular package.
SAM-2 is the Western designation of the Soviet S-75 surface-to-air missile system (NATO code SA-2 Guideline). Development began in the 1950s as a medium to high altitude anti-aircraft system against bombers and the system entered service in the second half of the 1950s. The two-stage missile uses a jettisonable solid-fuel booster stage and a sustainer stage; the stabilizing and control surfaces along the length of the missile are characteristic. The S-75 made its name in a number of conflicts and became one of the most widespread anti-aircraft systems of its day.
The slender body of the missile calls for careful fitting and cleaning up of the parting seams, so that the profile stays smooth. Paint the launch rail and the cabin separately from the missile. Play the base shades out with modulation, bring out the technical areas with a wash and add dust pigments to the lower parts. We recommend an airbrush and thin cement for plastic; cut the small parts off carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
