This item is a photo-etched detail set in 1:72 scale, not an airplane model. It contains the safety belts of the pilot's seat for American Second World War aircraft, both for machines of the US Army Air Forces and for those of the US Navy. The set is intended to complete the cockpit of a plastic kit of your choice in the same scale. The manufacturer is the Czech company Eduard, among the best known producers of photo-etched detail in the world.
During the Second World War American carrier and land-based fighters and bombers used multi-point restraint systems with shoulder straps and a lap belt. The belts were among the most conspicuous elements of an open cockpit: with the canopy slid back they are clearly visible on a real aircraft, whereas on a plastic kit they are usually only suggested or missing altogether. That is exactly why photo-etched belts became the most bought accessory of all.
Cut the photo-etched parts from the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface; never break them out. The metal is very thin in this scale, so work with fine-tipped tweezers. The belts are shaped by bending over the edge of a ruler or in a bending tool; a natural sag is achieved by curving the strap gently over a rounded tool. They are glued to the seat and the frame with a small amount of super glue, ideally applied with the tip of a toothpick. If a particular version is not color-printed, first give it a base color intended for metal and only then the shade of the straps and the metal buckles. Check with the manufacturer whether the version is pre-painted.
This is an accessory for more advanced modelers, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
