The Alexeyev I-216 1:72 is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet experimental jet fighter from the Ukrainian manufacturer Amodel.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit in 1:72 scale captures the experimental jet fighter Alexeyev I-216 of the end of the 1940s. It is an injection-molded plastic model of the Ukrainian brand Amodel; the package contains parts in plastic, a clear cockpit canopy and a decal sheet. The set is part of the series of early Soviet jet fighters worked up by Amodel.
The I-216 was among the prototypes of the design bureau of Semyon Alexeyev, a twin-engine single-seat fighter powered by jet engines. It came into being in the period of the intense postwar search for the shape of a Soviet jet fighter aircraft and remained at the experimental stage. For a collector it is an interesting addition alongside the related machines I-211 and I-215.
Amodel is a short-run kit, so reckon with cleaning the parts up and test-fitting before gluing. Glue with thin plastic cement, fill the joints and sand them down. Apply a primer before the covering finish; mask the clear canopy and glue it only at the end. Metal surfaces come into their own when sprayed with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
