An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet SU-152 heavy self-propelled gun in its late production form, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model represents the massive enclosed superstructure with the large-caliber gun on the chassis of a heavy tank. The package contains plastic sprues and the other parts for the build; the tracks on this type are normally one-piece flexible ones.
The SU-152 was a Soviet heavy self-propelled gun of the Second World War, created by mounting a 152 mm gun-howitzer in an enclosed armored superstructure on the chassis of the KV-1S heavy tank. The vehicle became famous for its great firepower against fortifications and heavy German tanks, which earned it a nickname referring to the hunting of armored beasts. The late form differs from the early one in details of equipment and in production changes.
Build a tracked vehicle in subassemblies. Finish and paint the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull and fit the superstructure. Join the plastic with thin modeling cement, and glue the flexible tracks with a suitable adhesive or join them by melting, depending on the type. Apply a primer before painting and use Soviet green as a base. Create the weathering with a dark wash, dust pigments on the running gear and a lift of the edges with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
