An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. It is the Weekend release, aimed at a quick and easy build from good plastic. According to the manufacturer the box contains decals for four marking options; photo-etch and masks are not part of this edition.
The Spitfire Mk.IX was one of the most successful and most widely used versions of the famous British fighter. It came about as an answer to the new German fighters and combined the proven airframe with the more powerful Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger. The Mk.IXc version with the universal wing served with the RAF and with Allied squadrons, including the Czechoslovak ones, and became the backbone of the fighter arm in the second half of the war.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before closing up the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints on with an airbrush; on the British two-color camouflage schemes, masking the hard transitions helps. Subtle emphasis of the panel lines and restrained wear on the leading edges give a small model conviction.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
