Metal control surfaces for the Spitfire Mk.IX in 1:72 scale are a detail set from Aires for more faithful control surfaces and flaps on the legendary fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detailed set of replacement control surfaces for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX fighter. It is NOT an aircraft model but an accessory to the base kit. The parts are made in metal and let you show deflected control surfaces and flaps with a more faithful rendering of the fabric covering.
The Supermarine Spitfire is among the most famous British fighters of the Second World War. The Mk.IX version was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin with a two-stage supercharger and came about as a quick answer to the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190. Faithfully shaped control surfaces add a sense of movement to the model.
First degrease the metal parts and roughen the mating surfaces. Glue them with cyanoacrylate, which holds on metal better than plastic cement. Apply a primer suitable for metal before spraying; the texture of the covering comes out best after shading.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and, as an aftermarket set, it calls for a more experienced hand. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
