The real subject

The BMPT, nicknamed Terminator, is a Russian tracked tank support combat vehicle. It is built on a tank chassis, but instead of a large-caliber gun it carries a turret with rapid-fire armament and with antitank guided missiles, with which it is to cover tanks against infantry and against targets in a town. Its silhouette is unmistakable as a result and it appears in modeling collections ever more often.

What the set contains

In the package are die-cut masks for spraying broken camouflage in 1:72 scale. The pattern consists of sharply delimited fields, which on so small a model cannot be produced reliably freehand or even with a fine brush. The masks transfer the boundaries of the fields onto the model exactly as they are designed, and that across the side skirts, the turret and the upper surfaces of the hull as well.

Building and painting tips

Start with the base shade and let it cure, so that it is not torn away when the masks are removed. Degrease the surface, lay a mask on and press the edge down along its whole length. Spray the next shade in thin layers, ideally at right angles from above, so that the paint does not run under the edge. Remove the mask shortly after drying, while the edge still holds. At the sharp edges of the hull and on the sloped surfaces it is better to divide a mask into shorter pieces.
