1:72 Stug III Ausf C/D

The real subject

The StuG III is a German assault gun from the Second World War built on the chassis of the Panzer III tank. Instead of a rotating turret it has a low fixed superstructure, so the machine is considerably lower than a tank and is harder to spot in the terrain. The Ausf. C and Ausf. D versions carry a short 7.5 cm gun that was intended to destroy fortified positions and to give direct support to advancing infantry, not to duel with tanks. The two versions differ only in small production details and are therefore usually listed together.

What you get

This is a collector model in 1:72 scale, that is, a piece for a display case rather than for the workbench. In this scale the whole machine measures about seven and a half centimeters, so it fits even a smaller display case and goes well with aircraft models of the same scale. The scope of the delivery, the finish and any base are stated on the box and in the manufacturer's catalog.

Display tips

• The low silhouette shows best when you place the model at eye level rather than above your head.
• Place the model so that the front plate of the superstructure and the short gun barrel are visible from the side.
• Protect it from direct sunlight, as the colors lose their depth.
• Remove dust with a soft brush, not with a cloth, which catches on the small parts.
• In the display case, pair it with equipment or aircraft of the same scale, otherwise the size is hard to judge.
