A photo-etched set for a model of the Su-24M tactical bomber in 1:72 scale. The thin metal parts replace sections that necessarily come out thicker in a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Su-24M is the modernized form of the Soviet twin-engine tactical bomber with a variable-geometry wing. Its two crew sit side by side, an unusual arrangement in a combat aircraft and one you notice at once on the model. The variable-geometry wing lets you build the model either in the spread position for takeoff and landing or in the swept position for high-speed flight, and each of them gives the finished machine an entirely different look.
In 1:72 scale a model of a combat aircraft is fairly small, but the fine elements on it stay visible. Those are exactly the ones that cannot be made thin enough in injection-molded plastic, because a mold has its manufacturing limit. Photo-etched sheet metal does not, so the part comes close to the real thickness of the original. The set is worked out for the Su-24M model in this scale.
In a small scale even the photo-etched parts are tiny, so have fine-tipped tweezers, a sharp blade and a hard surface ready. Separate the parts by cutting through the tab, never break them out by twisting. Make the bend along the marked score line over a straight edge or in a bending tool. They are bonded with super glue applied in a minute amount, for instance with the tip of a wire; any excess runs and fogs the surrounding area. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a primer for metal surfaces. Small parts are easier to paint while still on the fret.
The aircraft model, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
