1:72 Su-25 BASIC kabuki masks

Masking set 1:72 Su-25 — BASIC level

A basic set of pre-cut kabuki tape masks for a model of the Su-25 attack aircraft in 1:72 scale. With New Ware sets, the BASIC level means the smallest scope: it covers the main things that are masked before spraying, and it is the simplest way to be rid of cutting tape by hand. It is not a kit.

Why it makes sense in a small scale

The 1:72 scale tempts you to skimp on masking — the frames are thin and you tell yourself you will just paint them with a brush. That is exactly why the result so often shows: a hand-painted frame has an uneven width and a wobbly edge, and on a model the size of your palm that catches the eye more than in a large 1:48. A cut mask gives every profile the same width and an edge as crisp as an airbrush can make it.

How to work with it

• Wash and degrease the glazing, or the mask will lift while spraying.
• Carry the small pieces on the tip of a scalpel, not flat in tweezers.
• Press the edges down with a blunt tip, and only then spray.
• Make the first coat very thin — it seals any micro-seepage.
• Remove the mask as soon as the paint goes matte; after several days it peels off less well.
• Store the rest of the sheet flat, away from heat and direct light.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who build the Su-25 in 1:72 scale and want clean glazing.
• Those who are content with the basic scope and do not need a wider set.
• Beginners who are just starting out with masking.

This is a painting accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
