A resin accessory set of wheels for building a model of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-11 fighter in 1:72 scale. It replaces the kit wheels with parts carrying a sharper tread, a more accurate hub shape and no mold seam across the tread face. It is not a model of the aircraft — the set contains neither the base kit nor the other parts of the landing gear. The exact number of parts is given on the box of the set.

The real subject

The Su-11 was the type that followed on in development from the Su-9. It kept the delta wing and the overall layout but received a modified nose section with a bulkier radome and the related changes to its systems. It was built in smaller numbers than its predecessor and was later replaced in service by more modern types. The landing gear remained of the nose-wheel retractable type, so the wheels are still clearly visible on a model with the gear extended.

Usage tips

With wheels it pays to choose the super glue with care. The thin version sets practically at once and leaves no room for correction, while the gel version gives a few seconds to position the part and fills a small gap between wheel and axle better. If you need to speed the joint up, use an accelerator, but apply it away from visible surfaces — it leaves matte marks on paint. Before gluing, wash the parts in warm water with detergent, let them dry and apply a primer. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and level the mating face, so that the model stands straight.
