1:48 Junkers Ju-88C-6 is an Eduard masking set with pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing of the model. It is not a kit but an aid for painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the twin-engine Ju 88 in the C-6 version in 1:48 scale. The package does not contain a model — in it are sheets of masks of thin kabuki type masking tape, with which you cover the glazing and other areas that are to stay clear before spraying. The maker is the Czech firm Eduard.
The Ju 88 was a German twin-engine all-metal aircraft of the Second World War period, built in many different versions. The C version differs from the bomber standards in its nose: instead of a glazed nose it carried a solid, unglazed one. Even so, a large area of the pilot's compartment with a dense network of frames remains to be masked on the model, because the cockpit of the Ju 88 was divided into dozens of small panes.
Cutting such tiny shapes out of tape by hand is slow and the frames come out of unequal width. The pre-cut masks follow the shape of the panes, so the paint edge is sharp and the network of frames comes out even. Degrease the glazing before masking and let it dry. Lift the mask out of the sheet with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, lay it on dry and press it down round the perimeter with a wooden stick. Apply the paint in thin coats and remove the masks as soon as the coat is dry to the touch.
In the package is masking material only — the kit, paints and glue are not part of it. The masks are cut to the specific shape of the glazing, so check before buying that they match the kit you are building.
