An injection-molded plastic kit of the early production British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard of Obrnice near Most. Eduard is among the world leaders in aircraft models and its Spitfires are renowned for their fine detail. In the richer edition it contains, besides the plastic, color photo-etched parts, painting masks, decals and six marking options. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Spitfire is the most iconic British fighter and a symbol of the Battle of Britain. The Mk.V version with the Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine was the most widespread variant of the early and middle war years and carried the main burden of the offensive flights over occupied Europe in 1941 and 1942. The b designation means the B type wing with mixed armament, two 20 mm cannon and four .303 machine guns. Early production refers to the earlier production features of this type.
In 1:72 scale the parts are small, so work with a sharp knife and tweezers and cut the sprue gates away carefully. Color photo-etched parts bring the cockpit to life. Mask the canopy glazing with the masks enclosed. The typical British camouflage is two-tone on top with a lighter underside, so follow the period scheme you have chosen. Accentuate the fine panel lines with a wash and apply the decals over a gloss clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
