Injection-molded plastic kit of the American M113 tracked armored personnel carrier in its ACAV (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle) version, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The kit contains parts in gray plastic, one-piece vinyl tracks and a generous decal sheet. The model has basic interior detail and the driver's and commander's hatches can be set open or closed.
The M113 is an American tracked armored personnel carrier with an aluminum hull that entered service in the early 1960s and became one of the most widely used vehicles of its class. The ACAV version came out of combat experience in Vietnam: the commander's machine gun received an armored shield and two more shielded machine guns were added at the sides. The aim was to increase the protection of the crew and the firepower of a vehicle used by reconnaissance units.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the basic interior before you close up the hull, while you can still reach them. Join the vinyl tracks with cyanoacrylate glue. We recommend a primer, then the base shade with an airbrush and the weathering: washes in the recesses, the rivets picked out and pigments for dust and mud effects on the running gear. Bring the armored shields and the machine guns to life with light dry-brushing and edge wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
