Photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale for the British Vickers Wellington Mk.II bomber. The scope of the parts and the kit they are matched to are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vickers Wellington was a British twin-engine bomber that served from the beginning of the Second World War and was one of the mainstays of the night bombing effort. Its peculiarity was the geodetic airframe: a lattice of light sections woven into a shell and covered with fabric. The structure was light, stiff and famous for machines taking extensive damage and still flying home. The Mk.II version differed from most other Wellingtons in its powerplant. Instead of radial engines it received liquid-cooled Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engines, which showed in its performance at higher altitudes and in the slimmer shape of the engine nacelles.
Its listing among photo-etched parts tells you the production technique: the elements are etched from thin metal sheet and held in a carrier fret from which they are separated. Photo-etch is used in modeling where a plastic part would come out too heavy, because its thickness comes close to true scale. The exact scope of the parts and the kit they are matched to are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate a part with a sharp blade on a hard surface, never by breaking it out, or the metal will bend. Sand the remains of the tab down with a fine file after separating it. Make the bend over a sharp edge or in a bending tool, always in the scored line and in one movement. It is bonded with super glue applied in a minute amount, as an excess is hard to remove from under the part. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and lay down a base coat.
Paints, glue and other materials are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The scope of the delivery is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
