Replacement Quickboost air intakes for a model of the Fw 190D-11 in 1:72 scale. A small part that on the long nose of the Dora decides the impression the whole model makes.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D came about by converting the well-known fighter to a liquid-cooled inverted V12 Jumo 213. The nose was thereby markedly lengthened, the fuselage got a plug ahead of the tail surfaces, and among modelers and pilots alike the name Dora took hold for this form. The annular radiator at the front meanwhile makes the aircraft look at first glance as though it still had a radial engine. The D-11 version is among the final renditions of the line; it came about at the very end of the war and in small numbers only.
The set replaces the air intakes on a model. It is precisely the shape and the edges of an intake that tend to be soft on parts from a kit, and in a small scale that shows at first glance; a separate replacement part therefore aims at the accuracy of shape of this detail and will save you long sanding and drilling of plastic.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest off, so that the seating surface stays flat. Sand the original shape on the engine cowling down only deep enough for the replacement part to line up with its surroundings; keep trying dry as you go. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Paint the inside of the intake before you seat it, and leave it dark, so that the opening looks deep. Fill and sand the gap around the part before spraying.
For builders of late versions of the Fw 190 in a small scale who want an accurate nose down to the small things. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
