Cossack crews did not build their strength on large naval formations but on craft that could sail a river and run along a sea coast alike, and that could be moved quickly to where nobody expected them. Vessels like that tended to be small and fast, with a crew that both handled and defended the craft. A model of such a vessel is therefore interesting for different reasons from a large warship: it plays on an intricate hull and on honest work with the surface.
A model of a historical ship in 1:72. It is supplied unassembled; the parts have to be separated, cleaned up, glued and painted. The exact number of parts, the extent of the rigging and any accessories are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer, because with ship models they differ from one kit to another.
Start the build with the hull and let it cure on a flat surface so that it does not warp, because later there is no correcting it. Sand the seams back before you start painting. Do not paint the wooden surfaces in one flat shade; it is the differences between the individual planks and a darker wash in the gaps that give the surface depth. String the rigging last, when the rest of the model is dry and painted, and watch out for the finished parts while you work so that you do not catch them. Stand the finished model in a cradle or on a base, so that the hull does not rest on the outline of its bottom.
Paints, glue, a base and modeling tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
