A kit of the British twin-engined bomber Vickers Wellington Mk.X in 1:72 scale. The subject is the most numerously built version of this type.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Wellington was among the mainstays of British bomber aviation in the first years of the war and in night raids it did more work than any other British twin-engined machine. Its recognition mark is the geodetic structure: a net of thin sections which forms the fuselage as well as the wing and is covered with fabric. The structure was light and flexible and became famous for how much damage it took without the aircraft falling apart.
The Mk.X is the most numerously produced version of the whole type. It was powered by a pair of Bristol Hercules radial engines, which, compared with the earlier versions powered by V12 engines, are easy to recognize by their wide engine nacelles. It is precisely this form that most modelers associate with the Wellington.
In 1:72 scale the span comes out at around 36 cm, so the model needs a wider shelf. Try the assembly of the fuselage halves and the wings dry and let the joints cure on a flat base; with twin-engined machines every deviation in the angle of the wing shows. Mask the glazing of the cockpit and the gun turrets before spraying. The fabric covering over the geodetic structure gives a surface with a fine rippling, which can be picked out with very subtle shading, but beware of overdoing it, which turns the model into a wrinkled toy.
Paints, glue, filler and masking material are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
