Fujimi 1:76 Japanese Medium Tank Type 97 Chi-Ha is a plastic kit of the Japanese Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank in the small 1:76 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the Type 97 medium tank, known as the Chi-Ha, in 1:76 scale. A smaller scale means a quicker build and a model that takes up little room in a cabinet; it also suits group settings where several vehicles are needed together. The number of parts, the contents of the package and the type of tracks are stated on the box; check them against the description on the packaging.
The Type 97 Chi-Ha was the standard medium tank of the Japanese army from the end of the 1930s. The vehicle had a riveted and welded hull, a diesel engine and a turret with a gun of smaller caliber supplemented by machine gun armament. The design was lighter than that of European and American medium tanks of the same period, which matched the demands of transportability and of use in the terrain of the Pacific and Asian theaters. Over the course of its service a number of derived versions came about, differing mainly in armament and in the form of the turret, so the Chi-Ha forms the basis for a whole family of Japanese tracked vehicles.
In 1:76 scale the key is not to overdo the paint; a heavy coat floods the fine cast detail. Finish and paint the running gear and the tracks before you fit the upper part of the hull and the turret. Spray the primer with an airbrush, then bring out the shapes with a dark wash into the shadows and a lighter dry brush on the edges and the rivets. For weathering on this type of vehicle, dust and mud effects with pigments concentrated on the running gear and the lower part of the hull suit it well. Japanese camouflage schemes tend to be multicolored, so it pays to lay the transitions on with an airbrush or a fine brush rather than masking them with sharp edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
