About product

26th Waffen Grenadier Division Of The SS (2nd Hungarian) Plaque 25mm from Dynamo-Models

A diorama accessory, not a kit. The plaque carries the badge of the unit and is used as a permanent label for a base, a plinth or a compartment in a display case. The national qualification 2nd Hungarian in brackets is precisely the detail that separates this item from the otherwise similar-sounding plaques of the same range, so it is worth attention when choosing. The name also gives the size figure of 25 mm, but it says nothing further about the execution or the contents of the package.

About the unit

The 26th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS was raised at the turn of 1944 and 1945 from Hungarian personnel as the second formation of its kind, after the unit with the order number 25. It never reached full combat readiness, because the war ended while it was still forming, and in 1945 it broke up. The designation 2nd Hungarian in the name therefore does not speak of an order in battle but of the order in which the Hungarian formations were raised.

How to use the plaque

If you are building a pair of scenes on the same national subject, the plaques of both units side by side work as a clear divide and the viewer sees at once that these are related but distinct formations. In that case bring the color of the bases and the way the plaques are fitted into line, otherwise the result reads as haphazard. The badge stays more legible on a matte than on a glossy surface.

Who the plaque is for

  • modelers focused on Hungarian formations of the Second World War
  • collectors who build several scenes on one subject
  • builders of dioramas who need a precise label
  • display cases in which similarly designated units are told apart

FAQ

The order in which the Hungarian formations were raised, not an order in battle. The detail tells this plaque apart from similar-sounding items in the range.

No. It is a diorama accessory, a badge plaque for marking a base, a plinth or a display case.

At the turn of 1944 and 1945. It never reached full combat readiness, because the war ended while it was still forming.

Bring the color of the bases and the way they are fitted into line. Plaques of related units side by side then work as a clear divide.
