A brass strip 6 mm wide and 0.8 mm thick, with a piece length of 305 mm.
Responsibility details are not available.
Six millimeters of width, eight tenths of a millimeter of thickness, a length of 305 mm. Twice the thickness of the thinnest variant changes the material beyond recognition: it cannot be bent by hand, it holds a load and it does not spring back. From a modeling point of view it is a structural element, not a cladding foil.
When a part has to carry something. Axles and pins of lifting arms, girders under a bed, brackets for lamps, the feet of masts, hinges of hoods that are really meant to open, or the inner framework of a diorama structure onto which thinner sheet is then glued. It also serves well as a shim under a resin part, where the height has to be evened out and stiffness ensured at the same time.
Sheet metal shears already reach their limit here and the material twists in them. A cleaner result comes from a fretsaw with a fine metal blade or from cutting with a disc in a hand grinder, or from clamping it in a vise and cutting it with a file. The edges have to be chamfered after parting, otherwise they stay sharp. Bending calls for a vise and a straight edge; at a right angle an outer radius appears at the bend, and that has to be allowed for while marking out.
Eight tenths of a millimeter is the thickest grade the manufacturer makes in all three widths; thicker material is made only in the widest form. Anyone who needs stiffness and a narrow profile at the same time ends up right here.
Joints in thicker material will take a load only once soldered; super glue at a thickness of eight tenths cracks under bending stress.
When marking out, allow for a saw cut taking off about half a millimeter; on a pair of symmetrical parts that shows by the end.
