Napoleon's scribe, 1805 to 1812, in a size of 75 mm is an unpainted collector figure in resin from the Vertigo miniatures brand, intended for more experienced figure painters. It is not a plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A collector figure 75 mm in size, cast in resin and supplied unassembled and unpainted. The figure of 75 mm gives the height of the figure and not the scale; it is an established size category of collector figures that lies between the small modeling scales and large busts. It therefore offers markedly more surface for the face, the hands and the cloth than figures for dioramas, and yet it can still be finished in a reasonable time.
The subject is a staff scribe from the period of the years 1805 to 1812, that is, from the time of the Napoleonic Wars. Scribes belonged to the administrative support of armies: they kept orders, reports and lists, and their appearance therefore differed from that of combat units, with more civilian clothing, a satchel and writing implements. For a painter it is a rewarding subject precisely because the center of the work lies in the face, the hands and the cloth and not in the metal and leather details of equipment.
First wash the parts in warm water with detergent, otherwise remains of mold release agent will make it impossible for paint to adhere. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter, fill the seams and sand them wet with protection for your airways. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue alone. A thin primer follows, ideally with an airbrush. Build skin in translucent coats from the middle tonality toward the lights and shadows, and cloth from a dark base instead; at a size of 75 mm you can afford fine transitions and the texture of the fabric. Oil paints give smooth blending, acrylics speed, and the two can be combined. Finally, unify the surface with matte varnish and leave gloss only on the eyes and metal.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. When sanding resin, work wet and protect your airways.
