The manufacturer offers this gun in several variants that differ in the details of cooling and mounting; the Naval designation tells this version apart both from the standard one with a water jacket and from the one without a jacket, which are available separately.
The Schwarzlose Model 07/12 is an Austro-Hungarian 8 mm heavy machine gun. It works on delayed blowback with a toggle-lever mechanism — a design simpler than the one used by comparable guns with barrel recoil. The gun is belt-fed and was fitted to pedestals and carriages matching the given platform. The description stays with the technical side of the design.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on them and the paint holds. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a fresh blade and sand the remains wet and with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint thinly: a primer, a dark metal shade, a fine dry brush along the edges and a dark wash in the recesses. If you are fitting the gun to a model exposed to the open air, light corrosion or salt deposits can be suggested with very fine stippling of a rust shade — always only where water would really run.
This is a modeling accessory, not a complete kit. The parts are supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
