This is a book, not a kit. This title is volume number 6 of the Airframe Detail series of the British publisher Valiant Wings Publishing — a concentrated technical guide to a single type of aircraft, put together for modelers whatever the scale they build in. The author is Richard A. Franks. The illustrations were prepared by Richard J. Caruana.
The Ta 154 was a German twin-engine night fighter of largely wooden construction; its nickname Moskito referred to the British de Havilland Mosquito, which it was meant to rival. It came about at Focke-Wulf under the direction of Kurt Tank, from whom the Ta designation comes, and it was powered by Junkers Jumo 211 engines. The program foundered on glue: after production of the original resin was lost, a substitute took its place that attacked the wood, and in 1944 series production stopped. Only a handful of machines were built, so the type remained one of the most interesting late German projects — and a rewarding subject for modelers.
For modelers who build the Ta 154 in any scale and want to fill in the details of the cockpit, the engine nacelles and the landing gear. Also for readers interested in the late German night fighters and in wooden construction.
