This is a book, not a kit. This title is volume number 7 of the Airframe Detail series of the British publisher Valiant Wings Publishing — a concentrated technical guide to a single type of aircraft, put together for modelers whatever the scale they build in. The author is Richard A. Franks. The volume is devoted to one of the last combat biplanes.
The Hs 123 was a German single-seat biplane for dive bombing and direct support of the ground forces. It first flew in 1935, it was powered by an air-cooled BMW 132 radial engine and essentially only one combat version, the A-1, was built in series. It proved itself in combat in Spain and then on the Eastern Front, where more modern equipment should long since have taken its place: its simple, robust structure, its ability to operate from waterlogged field strips and its short takeoff run kept it in service deep into the war, long after it was formally obsolete.
For modelers who build the Hs 123 and are looking for evidence on the engine, the cockpit, the landing gear and the external stores. Also for readers interested in the combat biplanes of the thirties and in German air support of the ground forces.
