An injection-molded plastic kit of the CH-47D Chinook heavy transport helicopter in 1:144 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The small scale means fewer parts and a quicker build than the same machine in 1:72. The Model Set version adds the basic paints, a brush and glue to the model.
The Chinook is a twin-engine helicopter with a tandem layout of two main rotors, one above the nose and the second above the rear. The rotors turn in opposite directions and cancel the reaction torque, so the machine needs no tail rotor and can use the whole length of the fuselage for cargo. The cargo compartment is reached through a rear ramp, and under the fuselage there are hooks for external loads. The D version came out of an extensive modernization of older machines and received more powerful engines and a strengthened transmission. The type is among the longest-serving helicopters of all.
In 1:144 the parts are small, so cut them off with a fine saw and apply the glue drop by drop with a fine brush. The long fuselage calls for a clean seam, so fill it and sand it back before you start spraying. Mask the windows, or fit them only after spraying. Leave the rotor blades and the landing gear to the end. A dark green finish is brought to life by a fine wash in the panel lines and dust carefully suggested on the underside of the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. According to the manufacturer, the Model Set contains the basic paints, a brush and glue; other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
