This is a plastic figure kit in the large 1:16 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. It is not a finished painted model or a collector's figurine; the parts have to be taken off the sprue, glued and painted. The 1:16 scale is markedly larger than that of the usual figures for equipment models, so the modeling of the face, the hands and the folds of the uniform stands out. The figure suits a shelf as an object in its own right and a smaller diorama or display case as a prominent element.
The subject is a uniformed British policeman. The British police are among the most easily recognizable forces in the world, above all thanks to the characteristic tall helmet and the sober dark uniform, which have kept to their basic features for a very long time. For a modeler a figure like this is interesting mainly as a civilian subject that can be combined with an urban scene or with a model of a period vehicle.
Cut the parts off with nippers, sand the gate remnants down and remove the flash along the parting line of the mold with a scalpel. Glue with a thin modeling cement for plastic, and fill and sand the seams, especially on the torso and the arms, otherwise they will show once painted. Apply a thin primer before painting, which evens the surface out and reveals anything unfinished. In a large scale it pays to paint the uniform and the skin with gradual shading and brightening; acrylic paints suit the base layers well and oils the fine transitions. Paint the eyes only once the skin is finished, and preferably with a very fine brush and thinned paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
