Decals in 1:24 for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 with three machines from the summer of 1940 and with a mask for the cockpit glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Emil in the E-4 version was the machine with which the German fighter units entered the hardest weeks of the fighting over the English Channel. Compared with the earlier series it was given modified armament in the wing and, gradually, better protection for the pilot. It was in exactly these months that the finishes with yellow parts of the fuselage and the engine cowling arose, and the sheet offers them.
The first belonged to Walter Oesau of the 3rd Staffel of JG 51 and carries a yellow nose, the second to Franz von Werra of the staff of II. Gruppe of JG 3, the third to Gerhard Schöpfel, the commander of the 9th Staffel of JG 26. All three are dated August 1940 and carry tactical numbers as well as group emblems.
After being shot down over England, von Werra became the only German prisoner who managed to escape from captivity in Canada and return through neutral territory to service. Schöpfel, for his part, became famous for an attack in which he shot down four British fighters within a few minutes.
Besides the decals, a mask for the cockpit glazing is included, so the laborious cutting of the framing out of adhesive tape is done away with. The large 1:24 scale places high demands on printing quality, because every marking is seen on the model at full size.
The base should be glossy and smooth, otherwise air will be trapped under the film and the edge will go white. It pays to apply the large markings one at a time, let them settle with a decal softener and only then carry on. Once dry, the whole model is given a coat of matte varnish, which evens out the difference between the print and the paint.
