1:32 Surtees TS16/03 is a plastic kit of the British Formula 1 car of the 1974 season in the Model Set gift edition, to which the manufacturer encloses basic paints, a brush and cement.

An injection-molded plastic kit of the single-seat Formula 1 car Surtees TS16 in 1:32 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The number after the slash denotes a particular chassis of this type. The Model Set edition is a gift package: according to the manufacturer it holds, besides the parts, basic shades of water-thinnable acrylic paints, a brush and cement for plastic.
Behind the Surtees stable stood John Surtees, the only man to win a world title both on a motorcycle and in Formula 1. His team entered the TS16 type for the 1974 season; it was powered by the then ubiquitous Ford Cosworth DFV V8 and Carlos Pace and Jochen Mass took turns at the wheel, and later other drivers as well. The car won neither a race nor a pole position, and the team gradually faded out of Formula 1 because of weakening finances. As a witness to the era of narrow wedge-shaped single-seaters with open wheels, though, the TS16 is a rewarding subject.
On an open-wheel single-seater everything is visible, so finish the wheel suspension, the exhausts and the cockpit before you seat the body. Separate the thin suspension arms and struts from the sprue with a knife, not by breaking them. A smooth finish calls for a filler primer and thin layers; the large sponsor decals will settle better on a gloss surface. Leave the tires matte and dust them only lightly, so that they do not look brand new.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The basic paints, the brush and the cement are part of this package according to the manufacturer, other accessories are not, unless stated otherwise.
