1:32 Yak-9K is a kit of the Soviet fighter with a 45 mm cannon by ICM, with decals for three machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Yak-9K fighter in 1:32 scale. The large scale allows the cockpit and the powerplant to be worked out in depth, so the finished model is more than a silhouette. The decal sheet covers three machines. The manufacturer is the Ukrainian brand ICM.
The Yak-9K was an unusual variant of the widespread Soviet fighter, fitted with an exceptionally powerful 45 millimeter cannon. The weapon was mounted between the cylinders of the engine and fired through the hollow shaft of the propeller reduction gear, so the round left exactly on the axis of the machine. The recoil, however, was so great that the barrel had to be given a prominent muzzle brake and the pilot could only fire short bursts. Besides the cannon the aircraft carried one heavy machine gun. Power came from a liquid-cooled V12 engine.
Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage; at a large scale it is clearly visible. The muzzle brake is a characteristic feature, so clean the parting line off it carefully. Late-war Soviet schemes rest on gray-blue shades with hard dividing lines, which you will handle best with masking. The fabric-covered control surfaces will take a different degree of sheen from the metal panels, and the difference livens the model up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
