The figure subject 1:35 Btg. Arditi Distruttori della Regia Aeronautica from Royal Model recalls the airborne saboteurs of the Regia Aeronautica of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This subject from the Italian brand Royal Model refers to a unit whose name translates roughly as the Battalion of Daring Destroyers of the Air Force. It is cast in polyurethane resin, and 1:35 scale puts it alongside the usual kits of armored hardware and dioramas from the Italian and North African battlefields. The uniform, the equipment and the posture carry the hand of a sculptor who works with pronounced modeling of cloth at this brand.
The Battaglione Arditi Distruttori della Regia Aeronautica was formed in 1942 as a formation trained for sabotage behind enemy lines. The soldiers went through parachute training and learned to destroy aircraft on the ground with explosives. The best-known operation took place in March 1943, when parties dropped in North Africa attacked Allied airfields and damaged machines parked away from the combat lines. The unit came under the Regia Aeronautica rather than the ground army, and that was reflected in its designation as well.
Before painting, the surface has to be freed of mold release agent and left to dry thoroughly. Italian tropical uniforms move in the band of sand, khaki and light olive, and all three tones will take solid lightening, because the cloth fades quickly in the sun. Build the telo mimetico camouflage pattern from the lightest patch toward the dark ones, otherwise the transitions clog up.
Sold unassembled and unpainted.
