A plastic kit of the German anti-aircraft tank Flakpanzer IV Ostwind with the 3.7 cm Flak 43 gun in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a German anti-aircraft tank in 1:35 scale. Trumpeter gives over eight hundred parts, photo-etched parts, decals and a color scheme with it; the finished model measures roughly 168 millimeters in length. It is an extensive kit for modelers with experience of building military equipment.
The Ostwind was the last anti-aircraft tank on the Panzer IV chassis to reach production, and very few of them were built. On the hull it carried an open hexagonal turret with a 3.7 cm Flak 43 automatic gun, which had a greater effective range and a heavier projectile than the earlier four-barrel 2 cm weapons. The vehicle was meant to protect advancing units from low-level attacks by Allied aircraft in the final phase of the war.
Finish and paint the running gear and the inside of the open turret before you close everything up; with an open turret the interior stays in view, so it is worth spending time on it. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. After the base coat a filter helps to unify the tone, then a wash in the recesses and pigments for mud and dust effects from the bottom upwards. Leave the gun movable until the end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
