An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun 8.8 cm Flak 41 in 1:35 scale from the production of the maker Trumpeter. It is an extensive kit of the whole artillery piece with a richly broken-down carriage; according to the maker the box is complemented by photo-etched parts, rubber tires for the travel bogies and crew figures. The gun can be built as a model on its own for a display case or as the central element of an artillery scene. Check the exact number of parts and marking variants against the details on the box.
The 8.8 cm Flak 41 was the later and more powerful version of the famous German eighty-eight. It was a dual-purpose weapon able to destroy aircraft at great heights as well as armored targets on the ground. Compared with the older Flak 18/36/37 types it had a longer barrel, a higher muzzle velocity and an upgraded carriage with a lower silhouette. Because of its complexity and demanding production it was built only in limited numbers and was fielded above all with selected anti-aircraft units at the end of the war.
Cut the parts off the frames and glue them with a liquid cement for plastic; assemble the complex carriage and the elevation mechanism carefully according to the instructions. Paint the assembly and the crew with an airbrush over a primer and attach the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Apply the decals over a gloss clear and bring the metal parts of the barrel and the breech to life with a dark wash and fine pigments. The crew figures will give the scene scale and action.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
