Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel from the Polish manufacturer Aber in 1:35 scale, intended for the Jagdpanther tank destroyer in its late Ausf. G1 and Ausf. G2 forms. The barrel is in two parts, which matches the real gun with its sectioned barrel liner. It is not a vehicle kit but a replacement part for a model you already have. The set is developed for the Takom kit, so check before buying that you have the matching model.
On long guns a plastic barrel is the most conspicuous weak point of a model. It is made from two halves, so a parting line stays along its whole length and has to be laboriously sanded away, and the cylinder tends to be slightly tapered or bowed after being drawn from the mold. A turned metal part is straight, has a circular cross-section along its whole length and the muzzle is really drilled out, so drilling and improving the muzzle falls away too. The change shows on a finished model at once, because the eye picks out every deviation on a long straight line.
A metal barrel is markedly heavier than plastic, so rather strengthen the seating in the mantlet or the gun shield with a drop of super glue and check that the part does not sag. Before painting, degrease the metal with alcohol and go over it with primer, otherwise the paint does not hold on the smooth surface and rubs off during handling. The muzzle comes out well with a dark wash and a fine dust pigment, and wear to the finish at the muzzle can be suggested with a dry brush.
The package contains only the turned part. The kit, glue and paints are not included.
