1:35 German Mini submarine is a plastic kit of the German single-seat Marder midget submarine in 1:35 scale from the maker Mikromir. Unlike the older Neger, the Marder could submerge.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale, the Mikromir part number 35-002 from the Ukrainian maker. The manufacturer lists it under the name of the subject, Marder. According to the manufacturer the package holds sprues of plastic and a sheet of waterslide decals; check the extent on the box.
The Marder was the direct successor of the Neger single-seat human torpedo and removed its worst weakness. It received a flooding tank with a compressor, so it could submerge to a depth of around thirty meters; endurance below the surface remained very small, however, so it was more a chance to hide than a real dive. The pilot sat under a transparent canopy as in an aircraft cockpit and the displacement was around three tons. About five hundred were built; the first put to sea in July 1944 and production ran until May 1945. The deployment was as hard as with the Neger: of fifty-eight craft that attacked off Normandy in August 1944, seventeen returned; they did, however, sink a Liberty class cargo ship, a minesweeper and a destroyer. Later attacks off the Riviera ended without result.
The build rests on a clean longitudinal seam of the hull and on the transparent canopy. Fill the seam and sand it through several grits. Mask the canopy before spraying and glue it on last with cement intended for clear parts, so that it does not fog. Because the craft operated half under water, a fine waterline with soiling pays off. Prepare a stand for the display case.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
