An injection-molded plastic kit of the French light Laffly V15T tractor in 1:35 scale. The manufacturer is the Ukrainian brand ICM, which has long concentrated on French interwar and early war equipment. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, the parts are on sprues.
The Laffly V15T was a light cross-country vehicle with all-wheel drive, developed in France in the second half of the 1930s. It served as a tractor for light artillery pieces and at the same time carried their crews. A characteristic element of Laffly vehicles are the small auxiliary rollers in front of the front axle and under the chassis, which helped the vehicle over ditches and edges of terrain without running onto its underside. The vehicle had an open body with a canvas roof, a simple structure and a fairly high ground clearance, a combination that makes it a rewarding and shapewise distinctive theme in a model.
An open body means that there is seeing into the vehicle: it is good, therefore, to finish and paint the interior, the seats and the floor before the body is closed up. Assemble the chassis with the auxiliary rollers patiently and watch that all the wheels seat in one plane. Glue with a thin cement for plastic applied with a fine brush. After a primer, spray the base shade with an airbrush, play the areas out in shade and lighten the edges slightly. Restrained weathering suits better: a wash into the seams, a fine chipping of the edges with a sharper shade and dust pigments on the wheels and in the wheel arch. The canvas parts come across better when you set them apart in shade from the metal and leave the surface completely matte.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
