The subject is the light cross-country car of standardized design, carried as the Kfz.1, that is, the light car for carrying personnel. The Soft Top designation refers to the version with a soft canvas roof, which differs from the closed variants in the shape of the body and in the rendering of the roof structure.
The light cross-country car of standardized design came about in the second half of the 1930s as part of an effort to unify the range of wheeled vehicles. It was a four-seat car on a chassis with all-wheel drive, with short overhangs and fairly good ground clearance, intended for liaison, reconnaissance and staff duties. The cars were built in parallel by several factories to a common specification, which showed in small differences in the details of the body and the instruments. The version with a canvas roof and a folding windshield was among the most widespread.
Separate the parts with an etched file or a sharp knife and glue with thin cement for plastic, which is drawn into the seam by capillary action. Finish and paint the chassis, the engine and the interior before you close the body, because once it is glued there will be no access to them. Apply primer before painting, and only then the base shade with an airbrush. The canvas parts come out well with a light dry brush or a thin light filter, which accentuates the texture of the fabric. The wheel wells and the underside of the car deserve dust and mud effects with pigments, and the edges of the body careful accentuation with rub-through.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
