M4 Sherman T-48 tracks with duckbill extensions 1:35 (Rye Field Model) are workable injection-molded plastic tracks for models of the M4 Sherman tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a separate set of workable T-48 type tracks in injection-molded plastic in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Rye Field Model. The set holds the individual links of rubber chevron T-48 tracks and optional duckbill widening extensions, which were fitted to the edges of the links to enlarge the bearing surface and improve going over soft ground. The tracks are functionally workable, so once assembled they faithfully follow the sag and shape themselves over the running gear.
Rubber chevron T-48 tracks were among the widespread types of track used on M4 Sherman tanks and their derivatives during the Second World War. American crews used duckbill extensions (extended end connectors) to reduce the ground pressure of vehicles that were overloaded or operating in mud.
The links are nipped from the frets, cleaned of flash and joined into a working track; an assembly jig for holding the spacing is usually available. Let the track sag freely over the rollers, so that a realistic droop is formed. Paint it once assembled, ideally with an airbrush, and bring out the rubber surface with pigments and mud effects.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
